Entries opens on Thursday 25 July 2024 and close at midnight on Friday 30 August 2024.
There is no entry fee. A voluntary donation to Treo Eile can be made at the time of entry.
Each participant is allowed a maximum of three entries in the category for which they are eligible.
Photographs must be taken between 1st July 2024 and closing date.
All entries must be submitted with the full names of all horses depicted in the photographs.
Horses must be thoroughbred horses doing an activity related to racing.
Photographs should contain both a horse and a human.
Photographs must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party.
Youth Group: Open only to individuals under the age of 18 years on 28 September 2024. Participants must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to enter the competition.
Open Group: Open to participants aged 18 or over on 28 September 2024, including professional and amateur photographers.
Participants in the Youth Group are not eligible to enter the Open Group, and vice versa.
Public Vote: A public vote will be held at the Curragh Racecourse on Saturday 28 September. The photograph with the most votes will win this category.
Entries must be submitted in digital format. Accepted file formats are JPEG or PNG.
The minimum resolution for each photograph should be 1920x1080 pixels and suitable for printing at A3. As a rough indicator, the file size will be at least 10Mb.
No watermarks, borders, or signatures should be included on the images.
AI-generated or manipulated images are not allowed. Simple upscaling to improve the printability of images is allowed but must be acknowledged.
Basic corrections that might include colour adjustment, cropping, sharpening, and minor retouching are allowed.
Any alterations to the expression or removal of any signs of stress in the horse are not allowed.
Entries will be judged based on creativity, photographic quality and adherence to the theme. A judge with expertise in equine well-being will be included as one of the judges.
Winners of each group will be announced on the competition’s official website and via Horse Racing Ireland social media pages.
The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Up to 100 of the entered photographs will be displayed at the Curragh on 28 and 29 September.
Prizes are non-transferable and will only be awarded to the winner
We reserve the right to change prize details without notice and all prizes are subject to availability.
Acceptance of the prize constitutes permission to use the relevant winner’s name, hometown and likeness for purposes of advertising, promotion or publicity in any media without additional compensation and prize winners agree to take part in such related promotional activities Horse Racing Ireland, The Curragh Racecourse, and Bermingham Cameras may require.
Prizes will be awarded in each group. Specific prizes will be detailed on the competition's website.
All photographers with images in the exhibition will receive two tickets to The Curragh on Goffs Million Day, Saturday 28 September.
By entering the competition, participants grant the organisers a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to reproduce, make available, and publish their photographs free of charge or restriction. This licence extends to both digital and printed formats, including television, online, news and publicity articles, promotional materials, and a public exhibition at The Curragh Racecourse. Any reproduced photograph will include a photographer credit whenever feasible.
Participants must ensure they own all rights to the photographs entered in this competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to confirm that any photos submitted have been taken with the permission of the subjects (or their parents/guardians) and do not infringe on the rights of any other person.
Copyright in the photographs remains with the original copyright holder, subject to the aforementioned licence granted to Horse Racing Ireland, The Curragh Racecourse, Bermingham Cameras, and Skor.ie.
Additionally, participants agree to the potential use of anonymized images in the development of machine learning models.
The competition organisers reserve the right to cancel or modify the competition and its terms without notice.
By entering, participants agree to release and hold harmless the competition organisers from any and all liability associated with this competition.
Participation in the competition constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these terms and conditions. This includes the consent to the use of the entrant's name, likeness, and entry for promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.
The competition organisers accept no responsibility for printing or typographical errors in any materials relating to the competition; fraudulent, lost, late, misdirected, incomplete or altered entries; or entries which are processed late or incorrectly or are lost due to computer or other technical malfunction.
The competition organisers reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this competition and/or vary competition rules at any time without prior notice and organisers’ decisions as regards exercise of such rights shall be final.
Participation in this competition denotes acceptance of these terms and conditions and any additional competition specific terms and conditions that may be advertised or notified.
In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct or the results of the competition or the provision of prize(s) (or any elements of the prize(s)), the decision of the organisers will be final.
Personal data submitted with an entry is used by the competition organisers solely for the administration of the contest and for future communication about related events and contests. All personal information will be handled in accordance with the competition's privacy policy.
